Pancreatic Tumors

Description

They may be tumors (benign and malign) or cysts and pseudocysts as a consequence of the pancreatitis. Unfortunately, pancreatic malign tumors are very aggressive, although with an early diagnosis and surgery may achieve even complete cure.

Symptoms

Symptoms of pancreatic tumors are very unspecific (abdominal discomfort, heavy digestions, fatigue) and when they produce evident symptoms (jaundice, important weight loss) it is the synonym of an advanced disease.

Treatment

Treatment of tumors in pancreas is mainly surgical. Depends on the localization of the disease, different types of intervention have to be performed. The most common is cephalic duodenepancreotomy which is a complex surgery that allows in some cases, the complete resection and cure of the tumor. This type of surgery is one of the most complex which is performed within the field of digestive surgery. In CMED we rely on a team specialized in this type of surgeries with great experience in hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and in liver transplant.
